  • I-134 Affidavit of Support

    Hi,
My fiancé's tax return for 2016 is less than poverty level. If we don't want to have cosponsor, is it possible to go with savings or it is risky? How the savings should look like? If there is a big deposit will it look suspicious? How much the savings should be x5 time more of the short part or x3?

If you're below the poverty, the best thing to do is get a joint sponsor -- a family or friend. If that's not preferred, as you say, you can use your assets to make up the difference between your fiance's resources and the minimum. There's a formula for assets and it's different for each type of asset.
Dumping a big deposit to show income is looked suspiciously, yes.
What type of savings are you referring to? cash? stocks? property?
    --Good luck--
Good luck. I learned the hard way, I hope you don't have to. Immigration is interesting. Not considered as legal advice.
