My fiancee and I both live in South Korea. I am a US citizen and work full-time. He is a Pakistani here on a student visa. We plan to get legally married here in the next few months and have a wedding ceremony in Pakistan the beginning of next year. When discussing other wedding celebration or such plans with my parents in the U.S., my mother suggested we visit next summer and have an event there. However, I'm not sure if it will be possible to get a visa for him, or even worth it to try. We won't be moving to the U.S. permanently anytime soon (2 years or more).
I'm not sure which visa he should apply for if we are only visiting. The website is a little confusing and it seems like it's not worth applying for a spousal visa unless we will be living in the U.S. soon.
He was denied a tourist visa last November because of 214(b) due to his status as a student here.
I'm worried we would go through the visa process with the hopes we will visit and have to cancel again because of a denial.
Is it possible to do something so we can at least visit the U.S. together while living abroad?
Any suggestions about what we should do would be appreciated.
Thanks!
