  • Need some help & advice

I may be missing the same answers in the fourm somewhere, so I apologyse first of all.

I need some advice on which visa would be best for me. I Am planning to head over and see my girlfriend in St Paul MN this August (I live in Ireland), we have been dating for some time and we have been talking about marriage and all that good stuff, but I have no idea which visa would be best for both of us. If we want to use the fiancee visa or is it the new K-3? I am new to all this and to be honest we both have no clue on the best way for both of us to go forward.

One thing I want to know is that on my trip over this August can I marry her while I am in the country and what do I have to file for before hand or afterwards? We both have gotten to the stage that we are both fed up of waiting and just want to be together. I do plan to ask her parents for her hand in marriage when I am over (yes I know terribley old fashioned!), so it will be engagement time.

Many thanks for any or all your help on this.
    Regards, Wayne

K1 visa is the fastest. However, you get to US you need marry within the 90 days period or else you will be deported back to your country. Soon after the wedding, apply for AOS to make your stay in US legal. It takes 6 months to get an interview for your temporary greencard after the AOS is approved. You will get 1 year and 9 months temporary GC. After that you need to renew it and apply for the 10 year GC.

K3 takes long time to process. You need to apply for AOS soon after you arrive to make your stay legal. The waiting time for interview is still the same. BUT you get 10 years GC right away when your AOS interview is approved
