  • For K1: Can I change jobs while waiting for I-129F approval?

My fiance is from Philippines but currently working in Saudi Arabia. If we get approved, she will be doinng her interview from the Manila embassy after she returns to Philippines in March of 2019. I already have my I-129F form filled out and ready to send.

The problem is I really want to change jobs. Right now I'm a security supervisor but I want to get back into truck driving, which would take a couple of months to accomplish.

If I sent the I-129F now, and then changed jobs 2 months later, would that be ok? Or do I need to wait until I change jobs first before sending the I-129F? Or should I wait until the entire K1 is approved before changing jobs?

    Any help is appreciated

Changing jobs, being fired, retiring, being laid off doesn't affect your I-129f once it's underway. The only point where your financials come into play is when your fiance goes for the K-1 visa interview and has to present the I-134 affidavit of support. If you can manage to show sufficient financials by that point, then you will have enough to prove that she will be taken care of with the I-134.

You can switch jobs after you send in your I-129F, it will not affect the processing. Let me know if you have further questions

Good luck. I learned the hard way, I hope you don't have to. Immigration is interesting. Not considered as legal advice.

Yes you can change jobs. Just make sure you still meet the income requirements.
