Can I go stay with my fiance as a visitor while we wait for the K1 to be approved?

Hi, I am a Canadian woman engaged to an American man and I am wondering if I am able to go and stay with him while we wait for the visa to be approved? I know I am only allowed to stay in the U.S for up to 6 months of the year so I was thinking it would be great if I could just go stay with him for five or six months, and then when my times up, I can just go back to Canada for a month or two until the visa process is all finished. The problem is I don't really have any assets in Canada so I'm not sure how I would prove that I still have ties to Canada. I don't have a car and if I went to stay with him I would have to quit my job (though I only work a minimum wage job at a pizza place so I don't really care). I could easily just come back here for two months and find another minimum wage job while we wait for the visa. I'm just wondering what you guy's think or if you think this would be hard to pull off. I really don't want to be away from him for 7 months!

The pending fiancee visa application does not specifically bar you from entry as a tourist, but it makes it more difficult to persuade others that your trip is merely temporary
