  • Marriage in the US

My girlfriend and I have been dating for 5 years and have recently agreed to get married. We'd love to get married in the US (she's a US citizen, I'm a UK citizen). From researching everything, I believe she needs to file a Form-i129F, which takes 5 months, and then I need to file a K1 visa, taking another few months. Afterwards, I apply for a green card to work in the States.

Other sites also say quick marriages are possible in certain cities. If we did that, I'd be on my tourist visa. Would that be a breach? And after we're married, would I just apply for a green card? If so, what's the point of the Form-129F.

Or should we just file 129F and then K1, declaring we do indeed intend to marry in the States?

Could somebody explain the process step by step in the order in which we need to apply for, in case we've missed things? Thanks

    Kind regards,
