I live in CA. My fiance came to the states on a K1 visa. We got married 48 days after his arrival and sent the marriage licence in the day after we got married. We've just found out that it can take 6-8 weeks for the licence and copies of the certificate to be recorded and sent. Therefore it's very possible that his K1 visa will expire before we can send in Form I-485 (Change to permanent status). Form I-485 is filled out and ready to be mailed. We just need a copy of the marriage certificate but it seems it will take forever to get it. Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we should do?
