  • Approved on I-129F, Now what?

    Hello All!
I found out yesterday that my fiance's I-129F application was approved.
I am wondering what is the next step because the USCIS told me that the next step is that everything is sent to the consulate general where he resides.
On the State department's website though, they said that the application is sent to the National Visa center for further processing and then I'm mailed the affadavit of support documents, etc.
Could anyone out there shed some light on this?

    Thanks,

    Alisa

    I-129f

    Hi Alisa

Once the State Department's National Visa Center received an approved I-129F Petition which was filed on behalf of your fiance, he will received a letter letting him know that the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing center where his Visa interview will take place..The letter will have a Case Number.. He will soon receive a packet with instruction from the Consular section at his end, on how to apply for the Visa and also the necessary documents required.

    Hope this will help!

      USCIS to Embassy

hey there....well this is what I encountered:

our petition was approved September 5th. we got the notice in the mail like 4 days after. I called the NVC and they redirected me to the USCIS. The USCIS told me that our petition is not sent to the NVC but to the embassy directly.

Don't know but that's what they said. (would explain why the NVC doesn't have anything on our records, even after 17 days have passed by)

Hi, I'm having the same experience--NVC doesn't seem to have a record of the forwarded application from CIS and CIS said they would have forwarded it directly to the US Embassy and to contact them. In my case, it was approved Dec. 26 and it's now Feb. 12.

Did you find it to be true that CIS forwarded the application directly to the US Embassy in your fiance(e)'s country?. How long did it take you to get an interview after getting the application approved?

        Thanks-

          we are all confused

hi, this is what happened to me.
my petition (I129F) was aproved on july 2005. after that, it was forwarded to the us embassy where the interview was going to take place. about one week later, i recieved a letter saying that i shortly will recieve a package with the instruction. i waited 18 months to recieve the appointment for the interview. also, i found out about my interview online because they never sent the package to me. when i called the embassy, i explained that i had an interview appointment in 20 days and that i had not recieved anything. they just told me to wait one more week, if in one week it didn't arrive, i should call them again. that week passed by and nothing arrived. so i called again. they told me to tell my girlfriend to go and pick the package up at the embassy at window#27. that was a total of 6 hrs drive. so, there we were with only one week to put everything in order. hopefuly, we put everything in order and went there for the interview. we brought all kinds of evidence but, nothing satified them. we were taken to the interogation room and in there they lied to us and contradicted all what we said. we were treated very unfear and very unamerican. the final conclusion was, that my case was returned to the CIS to review it. and here i am waiting for this process to be done. it takes from 3 to 4 months. i already wasted money on attornies and there is nothing they can do. i have done everything by the book and i have nothing to hide or lie about. i have this relationship with my girlfriend since 2001 and everything is very clear. one thing i noticed after all this, that when a relationship looks real, they give you all kind of hard times. but when it doesn't look real they don't ask you a single question.
my intention is to let you know what is going on in most emmbassies. so be prepared and good luck. i wish you all the best. i hope they don't accuse you like they did to me and my girlfriend. one thing i know for sure, the truth will come out because i have nothing to hide or lie about.
          GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

This is how I understand the process for K1. The 129F is submitted to the USCIS, they check that everything is there, then forward the file to the NVC who does a name check and forwards the packet to the US consulate with jurisdition over the fiancee's residence. The Consulate then notifies the fiancee that the file has been received and they send a packet to him/her which is a checklist of items that are needed such as police reports and where to do the physical exam. Then the fiancee can fax the checklist back to the consulate and then an interview date is set. If all is okay the visa is placed in the passport and must be used to travel into the US within 6 months. I don't understand certain comments that have been posted about fiancees being given interveiw dates when they haven't received a list of required documents. Intervew dates are only set when the checklist is signed and returned to the consulate..
