K1 Visa questions

Any idea what the typical wait is for K1 visas? Also - My fiance will soon be filing with the Nebraska service centre to apply for me to enter / be granted a K-1 Visa for entry from Canada. Can I visit him in the USA once he/we submit the application? Thanks!

Hi,
I think each case is different, my bf and I sent our app for k1 on Sep 29, they approved 2 weeks later, then they sent it to NVC ( National VIsa Center) within one week, 3 days later they sent it to my embassy. Now we are waiting for my interview here.
I thought we had to wait for 6-8 months, but I've heard many couples wait more than that. So basically you app has to go to 3 places:
Service center - NVC- Your embassy

Hello,

The K-1 visa generally takes about 6-8 months to process. You may not be allowed to enter the US once the application on your behalf has been filed at the USCIS. They normally deny the entry for K-1/K-3 applicants while the case is stil pending with the USCIS.
