How long Does it take to get security clearance done?

Hello everybody. If anyone can help us in this matter I would be very happy. I got in USA first 1998 as a student. 1999 again I got my second student visa.After that I never left the US till July 2003. During this time I overstayed my student visa and I applied for reinstatment. They denied my request and told me to leave the country in 7 days it was December 2002. I did not leave in 7 days but I left july 2003 cause I had business on that time I had to settle those things first. July 2003 I passed the Canada and I applied for refugue status in Canada. when I was in Canada I met a girl from US and we started to see each other. We fall in love .while I was waiting for court date to hear my refugue claim,we searched ways to be get together. she visited me often. we live together time to time. Canada refused my Refugue claim. I would have gone to appeal court's decision. I didin do that. While around that time my fiancee got pregnant. İmmigration lawyers suggested me to go back my country and apply for fiancee visa. I am from Turkey.I did that I returned my country and my fiancee applied for us fiancee visa. My babies born while I WAS HERE.THEY WERE TWİNS.everything went well.They accepted our petition and it was quick.we applied Februaray 19 2006 and I had my interwiev date in embassy May 11 2006.İnterwiev went very good.they did not ask me too many question cause everything was real.they ask me about babies and how we met all those kind of qouestion and they told me I will be getting my visa by UPS in 2-3 days. When I get my package from UPS I was shocked cause it says they need to be done administrative process. I emailed to embass here in TURKEY ANKARA. they emailed me back that I had caught security clearence for name similarity.they told me it may takes between 6-8 weeks.This s...t happened when I passed to Canada too. they held me about 4-5 days. There is a guy who is his name on the list very similar to my name. they told me later in CANADA I was not the same guy.Canadian court ruled that I was not the same person and let me go free. I never have connection any illegal organization or people.I am wondering Why they approved our petition and later they told me they need to do security clearence its almost 6 months now. My babies are 9 months old I have not seen them yet. when we call embassy or state department they say still under rewiev. why it takes so long. Cause I have been there and I was out of status and I was passed through border to Canada. My refugue claim has nothing to do with US or US interest. it was personal matter and related to my native country which is TURKEY. here is my question: what do you know or think about my stiation? does anyone here has similiar situation to mine? I am looking forward to hear your valuable advice and opinions? THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Nasilsin..,yes i'm going through same situation if there is a hit in their record same name as yours yes they need security clearness from washington DC so you should call Dept of state and tell them your case number and ask them whats going on they will tell you if there is any update ones they will get clearness from dept of state they will continue with your application and will issue you visa but noone knows how long it will take i'm sitting here from may to untill now.., be positive this dark abyess will be end someday and you will hear good news..,take care gule gule

security clearance completed whats next

My k1 has been under ap since May. In August , my fiance was put under security clearance. I just found out before Thanksgiving, that DOS completed security check with no issues. It took 3 months for DOS to complete this. Now it has been over 2 weeks, And my Fiance has not heard from chennai consulate. Is this normal or something fishy here

Even i am going throught similar situation as urs.Mine is a CR1 (spouse of US citizen) visa is on hold at mumbai consulate since last 10 months and consulate replies me same copy paste rpely that my case is under administrative process. Dont know what to do.did u get any prooress.
