K3 DS-157 -- what is this form for ?

Hello . after my Interview for K3 Visa in US Embassy Vancouver Canada .they took my fingerpriint and told me that they will let me know soon . but its been more then 2 months and i havent heard anything till last week, Vancouver Embassy called me and asked me to fill DS 157 and fax them. my question is WHAT IS THIS FORM FOR ?? AND IF IT WAS NECESSARY HOW COME THEY DIDNT ASK ME EARLIER WHEN I WAS FILLING OTHER FORMS .. if you can tell me something about it iwill really appreciate it thanks
