Hi, I am currently teaching in primary education in Glasgow, Scotland
(UK). However, I am hoping to move to California Bay Area with my fiance
(she is an American citizen) in the summer of this year.
I am a qualified teacher, as I have a 4 year Bachelor of Education Degree
(with honours) and have been teaching in Scotland for 2 years. I acquired my degree from the University of Glasgow. I am also registered with the
General Teaching Council for Scotland.
I have tried to research several relevant websites but I am still unclear
on the visa process. I would be very grateful if you could e-mail me any
advice on the following:
I think the only options available to me are:
- the employment visa (with my professional quallification)
- the fiance visa (getting married in California).
The concern I have with the employment visa is that I do not have an
employment offer. I think it would be difficult to get an teaching
employment offer from a school district in California bay area, when I am
currently living in Scotland (UK). Although, once I have arrived in
California I am sure I would gain employment as a teacher.
- How have teachers apllied for visas before?
- Is there any other visa option?
Thank you very much for your time and any help you can offer.
yours sincerely
