Hi guys i need some help.
my wifes case was sent to New delhi consulate in April 2007 and they did not send any packet from the embassy yet. so she went there and they give her the list of documents she need to submit.
my question is :

1. whats the diff between packet 3 and packet 4.
2. which one needs to be completed
3. can we take the interview date or they have to send it to us.
4. for birth cirtificate will 10 th grade school cerificate work or we need actual birth certificate.

Since my husband and I are going through the same thing right now I think I can help.

1) There is a difference between packet 3 and packet 4. Packet 3 contains the DS-230 that has to be submitted. Packet 4 is a list of documents which has to be submitted to the VFS prior to the interview. It also has her interview date in it which will not be assigned until packet 3 is submitted. The interview dates are posted online and you will also receive a notification letter. Packet 4 also contains information on how to get your medical completed and a listing of the approved doctors along with the various immunizations that have to taken. She will need the interview letter which is included in packet 4 in order to have her police clearance certificate completed.

2) Both Packet 3 and 4 have to be completed. You can't get packet 4 until packet 3 is submitted to the embassy.

3) They send you the interview date after packet 3 has been processed. In our case, hubby turned in packet 3 on April 4 and on April 27 they assigned him a June 11 interview date. We were expecting an earlier interview date but hey we appreciate having a date at all.

4) If you do not have your birth certificate then you have to have a notarized copy of an affadavit from a parent stating her name, date and place of birth etc. along with the tenth certificate.
