  • NO Proof of old Divorse--What do I do??

I'm a US citizen. I was divorced 7 years ago in the US. My ex-wife filed. I have no idea in which county. I have no contact with her now. And have lost the original paperwork?

How do I "prove" to the US consulate that my prior marriage was terminated?

    Thanks
    Jeremy

I'm confused. If you are the peitioner, why is the consulate requiring your divorce decree? DHS/ CIS deals with petitioners, not consulates. The only thing that comes from a petitioner at the consulate's end is an Affidavit of Support. CONSULATES DEAL WITH BENEFICIARIES.

Okay, so you don't know which county, but you've got to know which state. So, contact that states VITAL STATISTICS department with yours and her name.
