I filed a petition on behalf of my fiance in Oct 2006. USCIS approved the petition in Dec 2006 and forwarded the package to the US Embassy Cairo in Jan 2007. My fiance completed his interview in March 2007. Each time we contact the Embassy, we are told our case is still pending processing and it is difficult to predict when the VISA will be approved. Does anyone have experience with the K1 visa process in Cairo? What is the timeline between the interview and receipt of the visa?

k1 visa
hey cat85,
i am habebe's fiancee' and i live here in the US also, as he said his interview was in april 2007, and we also have been told that it is in processing. did you hire a lawyer to help you with your case? we did, and according to them this process can take up to 6 months. that is about all that we have heard so far, and that if they haven't requested any further information from you or your fiancee then there should be no hold ups. so i guess all we can do is just keep praying and waiting. i hope the 6 months part is right for both of us!!!! good luck to you and your fiancee, habebe said that you would post something when you hear anything and that will be greatly appreciated on out part, as your interview was before ours. if you ever feel like chating with someone who knows how you are feeling on this end, i will be here!!!! hope to hear from you very soon. sobie

Sobie,
Thank you for your reply. It is so nice to finally find someone who is enduring the Cairo experience.
We did not hire an attorney, but everything seems to have gone smoothly from a paperwork perspective. The embassy has not requested any additional information. My congressman initiated a query on my behalf last month. Much to my disappointment, however, the embassy gave him the standard generic response I routinely receive about "pending administrative processing".
If your lawyer is correct in regards to processing taking approximately 6 months, this is encouraging news. Kamal and I should be close to receiving a response, which also means that yours will not be far behind. It has been one year since I visited Kamal in Cairo, and I miss him tremendously. We will be so happy when this duration is over.
