Hi-
I just brought my fiancee into the U.S.A. a little less than a month ago. In compliance with the conditions of the K1 visa, we have already gotten married as of two weeks ago.
Thus far, I have filled out all forms and handled all paperworks up to this point; thus I might as well continue and do it all myself.
I am gathering all the evidence that is requested along with the filing of an
I-485. However, believe it or not, I am not sure I know how to fill out the I-485.
For instance, even though my fiancee is now my wife, I am still not sure whether I should fill out the I-485 using my wife's new last name (mine). It sounds logical to me; but I want to make sure that's how I should refer to her on the form, except on the part where it says: "Enter applicant's name as it appears on the I-94.
Also, of course, should my wife sign the I-485 with my last name?
My questions sound like commonsense questions, I know. But I want to be safe rather than sorry.
Another question: On the visa stamped on the passport, is the control Number the same as the visa number?
Can someone jump in?
Regards,
lakrema
