  • Oops - Misundertood question

I misunderstood question 18 on the I-129F. The one that asks you how you met your fiancee and established the relationship.

I read the question as what were the circumstances that we LAST met. So, I answered that I had visited her the previous weekend instead of how we met over 7 years ago.

I did include photographic proof that shows us at the age of 16, though.

    Will this be a problem?

You might receive an Request for Evidence (RFE), question 18 supposed to be an extra paper that you write down how you met.

How long does this typically delay the application process?

It puts everything on hold until you reply to the RFE, usually takes about 4-6 weeks from the time they send it to you, you respond and they resume action in your case.

Would it be advisable to send in the proper answer to question 18 and ask them to file the letter along with my original package?

I just received the NOA1 yesterday, it states that any corrections I may have I send along with a copy of the NOA1 form.

Should I send it before they ask, or wait? I want to avoid delay of the application process as much as possible.

Wait until they ask. So they can file it properly.
