    hi!
    how's everyone?
it's been a while since i checked this site. i've been very busy with my wedding preparations here in the US. it turned out really nice for me and my fiance. we're actually married now! we had a beautiful beach wedding last saturday sept.8

nways, i have a question about the AOS and EAD...

can i file this documents even without bringing our marriage contract and register at the Philippine Embassy office here in the US? i have been told that we need to bring our marriage contract to the nearest Philippine embassy here in the US right after marriage. do we really need to do this?

    many thanks!

    i see. thanks!
will the Philippine government recognize my marriage to a US citizen without registering my marriage contract in any of the nearest Philippine embassy here in the US?

i'll be able to send my AOS application on wednesday next week sept. 19, right after i take my TD vaccine. i am worried the USCIS cant receive my application on or before the 24th of sept. sept.24 is the date the immigration officer wrote in my I-94 which says i can stay in the US only until that specified date. and it says on AOS application instruction that i need to file for AOS before my intended stay expires. i thought as long as i file my AOS application before my K1 visa expires, i should be ok...

do you think the postal stamp date (the date u send in the application in mail) will be the date of filing for USCIS or the date they receive the application?

LOL I took my wife for her tet**** shot before we filed the AOS too. They dont have the vaccine in the Philippines. The date of your AOS is the postmark from the post office. Send it delivery confirmation, it cost like 90 cents extra. Hey since you filipinas never had tet**** shot before , when you get your shot, make sure you massage the injection site for several hours after getting the shot. Like every 20 mins massage the area, or else you will get a sore arm for like 3 weeks LOL. Once you mail your AOS you go into like an "applied for status" meaning even though your k1 and I-94 expires, its ok, your not in violation . Everything will be ok. If your going to apply for the EAD , dont send it until you get the receipt for the filing of the AOS because now the FEE for the EAD is included in the new $1010 fee for the AOS. All you do is send a photocopy of the receipt with the EAD application and then you dont have to pay the fee, it is waived for you. OH and very important, dont leave US until you get your greencard. If you absolutly need to leave before you get the greencard, you must apply for advance parole. If you leave without a greencard or advanced parole approval, your AOS and everything will be considered abandoned and cancelled and they wont let you back in. You will need to start all over again. And also, keep a copy of your marriage license with you in your passport incase you have any problem with your new last name. Once you get the greencard it will have your new last name on it and your passport will have your maiden name. Next time you go to philippines just get it changed, unless your going to wait until you get your US citizenship before going back to PH. In 3 years after you are issued the greencard, you can apply to become a US citizen, then after that you can get a US Passport. ok takecare and good luck
ok, then i guess i'm not in trouble at all about taking the TD shot, i'll remember that lol.
thank you very much! you're such a great help

oh wait, i am a little confused about becoming a US citizen. i thought it will only take 2 years for me to apply to remove my conditional permanent residence status? once my AOS gets approved and greencard is issued, i'll become a conditional permanent resident right? or i got the wrong information again. lol.

OK listen, after your AOS is all approved you will get a conditional greencard. This condition is for 2 years. Its just a lot of BS so dont worry. After the 2 years you apply to remove the condition. When this is approved you get the regular greencard. Then after 1 more year, (3 year total) you can apply for US Citizenship. As long as your married to the US Citizen for 3 years you can apply for US Citizenship for yourself.
        ok, got it. thanks again.
