  • K1- got married - WHat's the NEXT STEP- Please Help..

    Hi! there, i'm planning to get marry soon this month , just a civil wedding.

    i was approved for K1 visa last june 2007 and just entered U.S. Last Sept 20, 2007. My visa expires on Dec. 18, 2007

    after getting married, what's the next step and what exactly r the things needed?

    You will file for Adjustment of Status. Read the info here: https://www.immihelp.com/family-base...ons-in-us.html

    Filing forms I-130 & I-485.

    Along with the supporting forms: I-864, G-325a (one for you, one for your wife), I-693.

    And the optional forms I-131 (travel permit) and I-765 (work permit).

    Plus all of the evidence required.

      Another question.. i just got married yesterday.. and we'll be havin our marriage certs in 3 wks time... However, im planning to go to CA and Vegas By next month until Dec 15, 2007.

      Can i actually travel to other state even tho i havent change my last name in my passport and if i dont file this doc yet?

      in other words can i take care of this when i get back frm vacation....
      however my worry is my visa expire on Dec 18, 2007 . will this affect me goin back to the country i came frm?

        You have 90 days to get married and it is recommended that you file for Adjustment of Status before the I-94 expires (Dec 18).

        It is not necessary for you to change your name in your passport. You can travel freely as you are in status.

        You are going on a honey moon for 2 months?! file the paper work, is not that hard.
