  • I-129F photo

    Hi,
    1. How strict is the inside dimension requirement for the I-129F photo?
Immihelp gives the face oval:1" to 13/8" (chin to top of hair) for both the petition and the K1 visa. So do the USCIS instructions. Exactly what my July 07 passport looks like. Both my fiancee from Brazil and I have finally agreed that the frame should be 2"x2". she tells me that the photo shops specializing in visa photo won't take the responsability for the format required by USCIS because they get different requirements from the US embassy in Rio de Janeiro. But a lot of BR fiancees who have been accepted keep telling my fiancee on a forum that it doesn't matter if the size of her face is 1 5/8" hair to chin, her face occupies almost all the 2x2 frame! (it looks like a large brazilian passport photo to me). They say that the other (photo) requirements are all that matters. They also report that the photo will be sent with the documents once approved whether it is the right face size or not and that the embassy in Rio asks the visa applicants to go accross the street to the photo shop to take a new one if they don't accept the one that was sent !!! This is the third time she is sending me new photos. She already spent a lot of money! and the delay is frustrating.
    Has anyone heard the story?

    2. what about the within 30 days requirement? I am not sure on which site I have read that a 6 months photo is fine. How strict is it ?

    Thanks, I appreciate your help.
    JL.

    1) Just follow the USCIS instructions and get it done with photo studio specialized in immigration photograph. It is easy with digital photo, you can do it.

    2) photographs must not be 6-months old. Please read this link:

      Thank you1

      Hi,
I understand exactly what you are saying. I have done exactly that for my photo, and have no doubts about it, but in the US you can go to AAA and get it to done to passport specs. in 5 minutes free of charge if you are a member or at the Post Office. If you read my thread carefully you'll, the problem is with all the info and advice my fiancee is getting in Brazil from the embassy, the photographers themselves and others who have been through the process until the end and are on a similar forum sharing their experiences, some good, some bad. This is where the confusion stems from. And maybe also money from the business standpoint is involved....
So my answer to myself and to her is: follow carefully the instructions of USCIS and the advice of the experts, specialists in Immigration help, listen to the stories of previous applicants with a grain of salt and go with it. That's all we can do!
      Thanks anyway! JL
