  • Sponsoring fiance but no money

This is a really useful site. Thank you. I am a UK citizen who is engaged to a US citizen. Unfortunately, he is incarcerated & has no money or assets other than what I send him. I understand that the K1 visa needs proof of financial support of the alien fiancee. This would be a problem so do you know if that is correct.

I anticipate a fraud interview due to his circumstances and your information on that is very helpful.

I'm aware it would be a problem. I'm trying to find out if there is a way round it or an alternative.

Only thing I can think of is to show your income and assets for support.

I thought you could get a co-sponsor in the US as your SO has not got any financial backing for you?

Depending on his crime, this person may be inegible to sponsor a relative for a Green Card.
