Start Fiancee Visa process with a lawywer???

I am intending to bring a Jamaican to the U.S. as a spouse, is it wise to hire a lawyer from the beginning?? I have heard many conflicting pieces of information, (ie., someone recently told me there is no such thing as a fianee visa anymore...I can't find the application on line at the USCIS website) so I'm guessing that a professional should have accurate details and the most current laws that the U.S. creates.

I would hate to go through the trouble of applying, loosing fees, and being stuck here without him since I was feeling capable.......

You do not need a lawyer and yes there are fiancee and spouse visas.
