  • Out of question

i know this is a little bit out of question but anybody there who can tell me where is better to settle down? Canada or US?I'm on a petition for fiancee visa but I've heard a lot of negative things about U.S. it scared me more when I watched 'sicko" by michael moore.Im a permanent resident in Canada and if i live with my husband- to-be in U.S. I might loose my status here.So while there is time to back out and tell him to move here instead i'm hoping somebody there can give me a little bit of their own opinion.everybody is welcome to leave there comments.thanks

    tough choice

    hey there
i'm a can. citizen (my parents immigrated there) and i got married to a u.s. citizen last year and have been living here since then.
it's been one problem after another in our application process- they sent stuff back, asked for more money, LOST our medical exam, LOST the financial documents, WOULD NOT make a decision on my advance parole (to let me travel back to canada for a grad interview) because it was "stuck in FBI checks" which i've been told can take 6months to 2 years
i'm inclined to tell u just to settle in canada...they're more lenient and if ur significant other is a us citizen/perm resident they can go there much easier than u can come here
i don't know if u can apply for them if ur only a perm resident but they can move on a work/study visa and get health insurance in 3 months i think
but definitely do some more research on processing times, money, etc. before u make a decision

i just would not do this again. i got pregnant (sadly miscarried) and was so anxious bout being covered by u.s. insurance which throws lots of prbms ur way if ur only a visitor

    anyhow, good luck!

Canadian system is point or merit-based, whereas the US system is discretion-based. Evidence takes a back seat. Unfortunately, this system of government is not limited to the consulates. Official discretion is rampant in the US. Every official is like a monarch within his or her legal jurisdiction.

Then why do people immigrate to the US? Because of it's low cost of living due to a vast useable land and dollar as world's trade currency.
