  • Question(s) in regards to K1 financial requirement...

I want to start the process of applying for a K1 visa for my fiance in Russia . I have a few complex questions that I'm not even sure how to ask since my knowledge of finances is zilch.

In regards to employment, taxes, and my ability to meet the minimum financial requirements to support my spouse: My employment history is hardly note-worthy---I've been a student, etc. and last year I wasn't even living in the U.S.--I was living in Russia. I haven't had a job for about 1 1/2 years. However, it has been made possible for me to not have to work much because of a trust fund/inheritance in my name. I have never filed my own taxes, so as you can imagine, I am pretty much in the dark about all that.. Basically, my question is: Can the money/assets I have from my trust fund count as my annual earnings in lieu of the measly salaries I've made at various part-time jobs (which I haven't even had for over 1 year!) And if so, what do I write in the Employment section on the G-325A bio form? What other documents must I obtain? If it helps at all. the trust is made up of various stocks/bonds, mutual funds, and other various investments. so, technically, I am earning annually. I am worried that they'll think I just live off "the fat of the land" or that Vasya is using me for "financial freedom" and somehow this will prevent us getting the K1.

All advice welcome and I apologize if my "question" is not clear and too long-winded.
