    Oi Cesar, tudo bem!

Thanks for the info. Eres muy listo, bien preparado y tambien muy enamorado segun pueda darme cuenta. You'll see time really flies by if you get busy working on your documentation and don't go to the mail box everyday. I found out that it is an ideal time to build up and deepen our relationship and get to know each other under all kinds of circumstances. It's great to work together on this project. I know it had strengthened our relationship and helped us to find out a lot during the rough times of waiting and building our dream from the ground up. So it's really a blessing in disguise. Keep practicing your portuguese. I read yahoo brasil on the Net everyday to keep up with the language. My fiancee wants to speak French on the phone and if I don't practice Port. I am slowly loosing it. I started learning it 3 years ago with an audio visual method for one year before I went to Brazil.
As soon as I can I will send you the info, ta bom?
I will give you my phone # on the private message section also.
Thanks for the info about the interview dates. It confirms what I hear form my fiancee and all the girls she knows.
    Tchau, Ate logo,
    Te desejo uma otima tarde.
    Jean-louis.

      Bonsoir Beth, comment vas-tu?

So you like a picnic brazilian style ??!!!!
I landed in Bruxelles in 1968 when everybody was on strike in France, that was quite a picnic back then, with riots and barricades in the streets, ah, the good old days!

Yes I agree, you would be a great one, you already do all the research and you could take care of your own case much better and faster. Let's not anticipate the worst scenario, OK? It is very hard to find a job in France as you must know.So I hope that everything will work out for you.
      Bonne chance et a bientot.
      Jean-Louis.

        NVC Processing

We received the approvals from USCIS. Here's the timeline:

        8/24/07 - I-130 Received at USCIS CSC
        10/3/07 - I-797 Receipt Notice for I-130
        10/15/07 - I-129F (K-3) Received at USCIS CSC
        10/17/07 - I-797 Receipt Notice for I-129F
4/3/08 - Approval Notice Mailed for both I-130 and I-129F

I read a similar case where it seems the approvals were sent exactly six months from the date of the receipt notice. Looks like there's variation on how USCIS is processing cases.

What are the next steps? What forms and documents will be requested by NVC? How are they going to process I-130 vs. I-129F? Is Form DS156 and DS156K for nonimmigrant K-3 visa required right now or only at the time of interview? What are the up-to-date processing times for NVC and the timeline for Bombay to send the packets? Is anybody aware of Bombay's requirement to submit all documents to VFS 10-15 days prior to interview date?

First of all, congratulations!!!!!! WHOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The NVC is responsible for the collection of visa application fees and visa application documentation. When an applicant's priority date meets the most recent Qualifying Date, the NVC will contact the applicant and petitioner with instructions for submitting the appropriate processing fees. After the appropriate processing fees are paid, the NVC will again contact the applicant and petitioner to request that the necessary immigrant visa documentation be submitted to the NVC.

You may also want to go to IMMI HELP VISA section and read up on the K3 Visas, there is a lot of good infomation. You can print the forms you need for the NVC on this website .

Also, try USCIS website of VISAS AND of course pull up the U.S. Embassy Visa section of where the interview will be conducted at. Good information for the interview is posted there also.

Your well on your way, and moves quickly from here.
Best of luck and very best wishes.

          Beth

Getting closer to Happy Bossa Nova Day

              Hi guys,

              Here is my updated timeline:

              11/15/07: I129F sent.
11/02/07: Ist NOA receipt notice received.
3/11/08: 2nd NOA received, petition approved.
3/17/08: NOA 2 I-797 approval notice from NVC received. Petition sent to Rio.
4/14/08: Interview date set for: 6/3/08.

Today, my fiancee called the consulate to check on interview dates since there was a mail strike in Rio for the past 2 weeks. So they were not sending notices anymore, neither were they receiving petition approvals from NVC.
Otherwise our interview would have been scheduled for the middle of May.

Calling them from the US is the best way to get detailled info, also cheaper and faster than if your fiancee called from Brazil. The best time to call is right after 1:30 pm when they open up for calls.

Carol, Blue and Cesar, I haven't forgotten you. I have been moving out of my house all last week and my new apt. is a mess. I will soon write a more personal message on the private channel.

I just wanted to share the good news. Everything is flowing like milk and honey on a Brazilian rythm...

I am sorry for all of you who are struggling and hope that soon you will received some good news or that at least you will get some help in finding a solution.

I anticipated waiting from 5 to 6 months from sending the I129F to her having the visa in hand. So it will be 6 and 1/2 months due to the postal strike.

Blue, has your fiancee called the consulate yet? She should be able to find out right now her interview date with her RDJ # that you received on your petition approval. If not you would have to wait till May 15 to find out from the list.
Good luck to all! I wish you good courage and lots of patience.
              Jean-Louis.

                  Hey Jean-Louis,

Congratulations, finally you guys received it. I hope everything goes well with your move. Listen, I have been researching a lot about the process at the consulate, and the different test you guys have to take and certificates to get, could you please give us some estimate on how much would you guys plan to spend in the medical tests, besides the $100.00 that the doctors charge for the physical?. Also the two police certificates that are needed, have your fiance already got them?. Do you have to get them in person on one of the cities authorized? or you can request them on-line or sent by mail?. I know that the medical is valid for a year unless you have a medical condition, same as the police certificates. In my case I would like my girl to have those things ready so we can shorten the process a little bit from our side. Anyway I would like for you when ever you have a chance to elaborate a little bit on the proof of meeting in person, I don't want to send too much or too little, just the necessary. Anyway, congrats again, and I will look forward to hear from you soon.

                        I 129

                        Hi McBillion,

Not being familiar with the procedures or waiting times in Ghana's consulate, on this thread I can only share my own experience with the consulate in Rio which pretty much reflects the majority of brazilian fiancees's testimonies that I am aware of.

Based on what I know, both you and your fiance(e) should receive from the respective consulate in Ghana a package (packet 4) with a list of instructions that are very detailled and have to be followed exactly. Then, when all the forms, documents, supporting evidence, various certificates and affidavit of support from the US petitioner have been filled and notorized as required, on the day of the interview he or she will present all the dossier and if everything goes well with the interviewer the visa should be issued.

This is the procedure that is all outlined on the US Embassy in Rio de Janeiro website. I suggest you visit the website or contact the US Embassy in Ghana to obtain the correct and accurate information on the procedure and time frames.
As I said previously this is the extent of my knowledge. Perhaps, you might get a better response if you started your own thread since most of the posts I receive are from petitioners with Brazilian fiancees.

Sorry I can't be of any more help.
                        I wish you good success.

                        Jean-Louis.

Clarification for Cesar on police certificate waiting time

                            Hi Cesar,
The higher delay is due to the increasing number of demands of visas in specific cities. So the number that I quoted is valid only in SP and concerns the Policia Federal. If your fiancee lives in a smaller city, she will have plenty of time to request one. Of course, all this information is provided in the packet 4.
Congratulations for your upcoming naturalization ceremony. It was worth all the wait for me. Becoming a citizen has its rewards and benefits. We are experiencing one of them!

My fiancee has already her plane ticket for the 2nd week of June.
Everything is going according to THE PLAN. Jer 29:11,12.

                            Jean-Louis.

                              Hey Jean Louis,

Good for you and your fiance. I hope everything goes ok and you guys get together soon.
As far as the cost of the medical examination, to be honest with you I am a little shock for the prices (500+320) $820.00 is expensive. Anyway, in my case I contacted one of the doctors in Recife, which is the closest city from which she lives (Fortaleza). She said that my fiance can have all her vaccinations and x-ray done in her city, the only required one to be done there is the blood tests (which she told me was 60 Reais) I am planning to have her done the first two in fortaleza and the later in recife, I read this test are good for a year so we will see. You know that more expenses are coming as soon as you guys get married in the states (930 for Adjustment of status, 350 for employment authorization, and another 350 for advance of parole if you guys are planning to travel outside of the country). So too many expenses in such a short period of time. Well my friend you never PM with the details of what you sent in your I-129F to show the proof of having met in person. I know you have been very busy latley, but when you have a chance please do so.

                              Take care,
                              Cesar

                                Hey Cesar,

                                Thank you.

Did you read this part of the message I send you before? "As soon as you respond to my private message, I will answer your last request on the proof of meeting and provide a helpful website for your fiancee".

I agree with you. It sounds very expensive, but she lives in SP.

Did you receive and read my private message to you? I can't share the site with any and everybody. It's not a forum like this one.
I have been very busy and tired, but this week-end I will sent the info. Just give me your email in a private message on the forum.
