  • Help!!!!

I just checked my case status on line, as of today 03/19/08 Vermont has updated my pending K3 case, but no emails from them yet and shows its pending but a new date of today shown in date of their web site for my case.. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???? Besides that someone in Vermont has it in their hands.

    Also...

i had USCIS do some corrections in my name and husbands name, could this be the reason for the new updated date of today???, cause they are correcting the type-o's in our name. This did not happened when they correct our zip code on our I-130. ?????

Case Status Online "Last Updated" Column

      Beth,

I believe a date change in the "Last Updated" column is typcial and represents internal processing on the case. For my I-130 and K-3 cases, I had the same thing happen soon after they had received it and sent the receipt notice. It could mean they are filing the case for future review or they are entering the information in CRIS. As you say, that status can also change if you have submitted any corrections. Nevertheless, you will not receive any emails unless the case status changes from "Pending."

I am curious, however, that for those people whose cases have been approved, did the date in the "Last Updated" column change before the case changed to "Approved" status?

Beth, have you received any more information on processing times? How are some people getting their cases approved sooner even though they filed later than somebody else at the same service center?

      Regards,
      Kumar

        Hi Kumar,
I called USCIS processing center, they told me NO: when type-o's are corrected it DOES NOT change the "Last Update" date. They even told me the type-o's they made has not even been assigned to a offocer to correct yet. Its driving me crazy, this morning it showed 03/19/08 and now this afternoon it shows 03/19/08 what is going on????

USCIS did also tell me that Vermont is processing petitions received in Sept. 2007 but they do try to process the K3 quickly. They did not get mine till 02/26/08 for the I-129F K3 Petition and that is the date that has been showing for weeks until this morning.
Strange, no date change in "Last Update" section on the I-130 petition.

Oh well, will keep you posted if I hear from USCIS.
Take care and keep the faith Kumar.

USCIS Computer Records system. Where they keep most of the data regarding applications status and such.

              Cris

              Beth,

CRIS - Case Records Information System.

When USCIS receives a case in their mailroom, they have to input the case details into the CRIS. After this is done, we're able to see the case status online. This system is also used by USCIS internally to do the background checks, etc.

My "Last Updated" has changed twice over the last 7 months that my cases have been pending. Both times, I got excited, thinking my case was going to get approved soon, but for no good reason. As it states in italics on the bottom of the Case Status Online screen, the changes reflect "internal processing" on the case. As far as we know, it can be as simple as finishing the case details inputs, filing the case for review, or sending the background checks off. I don't think there's anything to worry about.

As far as processing K-3 as soon as possible: nowadays, due to the backlog, they're basically processing the I-130 and K-3 at the same time. This, I believe, is due to the long lag times between submitting the two petitions due to the receipting delay. As a result, the I-130 is being processed before the "current date" arrives for the K-3 petition. This is apparent in the recent case approval by "shaziz" (I believe the name is right; read the threads in heading, "Need Help").

All this I'm telling you based on what various lawyers have told me as well as extensive research that I've done on the USCIS and NVC websites. But ever since I've read about the couple of cases that got approved way after the posted processing dates, and the fact that others' cases filed before theirs are still pending, I don't know really what is right and what's going on.

Beth, what does your online case status say? Specifically, does the date that's mentioned in your status match the received date on your I-797 Receipt Notice? Mine doesn't. The date in my case status online is actually the date the I-797 Receipt Notice was mailed to me, not when they received it in their mailroom. The latter is how the cases are supposed to be priortized. I just want to know if this is typical or if my case has a typo.

              Thanks,
              Kumar

Nobody can tell you what they are doing to your case. But everytime someone puts in new information, or accesses to your case to add or remove, then your case gets a soft LUD. Where the date changes, but not the "status" message.

                    dates

                    Kumar.
On the I-130 receipt copy dates shows Feb. 08, 2008 Received: but the computer shows Feb. 20th of date as received. Still shows case received & pending.

I-129F Receipt shows Received: 02-26-08 and Notice date shows 02-26-08
Web site shows 02-26-08 We received Petition,..Pending......... all dates match for I-129F except for the Last Update date shows 03/19/08.
I was told by USCIS Service center Vermont is currently processing for Sept. 2007 petitions. But who knows if that is correct. I think Im going to accept the fact, sit down, shut up and wait it out. And thats not my nature, oh well, hang in there.
