  • Official Letter stating No Military Service

    Hello Again,
I was reading on another Visa webiste for required docs for the U.S. Embassy in Paris, and one of the documents required besides the police certificates is
if (No military service was done, an officiacl letter stating no service was done.)
Where would someone obtain such a letter? Anyone ever heard of this???
I found this on "Embassy Information" on ***********.com

    No Military Serv.

    Hi Beth,

I assume that your husband did no time in the French Military.
While I don't have the details to understand fully what the case is,
if you call the French consulate nearest to your city and ask where he can get the official document, I am sure they must be aware of such document and where it can be acquired in France.
That's about all I can come up with.
I remember when I immigrated 40 years ago, I had to go to the place near Paris to get the document showing that I served in the French AF to be exempt from the draft here.
    Bonne chance,
    J-L.

      Military

      Hello Jean Louis,
Remember my husband was born in Algerian, and living in Paris on student visa. But No he served no military time ither in Algeria or France.

I have never seen this request before of this document, I found it on journeyvisa.com under Embassy for France.
      Hope you are well.
      Beth

        Hi Betty,
Yes, I understand. I missed the student visa part.
Is he has a student visa, he must be an Algerian citizen? is that correct?
If he is, it might help you to follow my suggestion but with your inquiry to the Algerian consulate wherever it is located, probably in DC. Or you can just ask him to inquire at the Algerian embassy in Paris.
        JL.
