Does k3 application process faster?

Hi everyone! I have a question with regard to the K3/K4 visa application. My husband filed the application for me and my daughter last Feb(2008) and we received the first notice on the 2nd week of March. I was going through the forum, and I see that most of you has filed the K3 visa after filing the I-130. We have only filed the I-130. Would it really take longer if we dont file for a K3/K4 visa? If so, how long does it usually take? Our application is being processed in Vermont. Thanks in advance for your inputs.

In general, K3/K4 processing times are about one-quarter that of I-130.
