  • Document Verification

    Hello all,

I have read a post today (different website) regarding a verification process for documents. It seems to be a process that the petitioner pays for and must be completed before the interview.

Does anyone know of this process?
Is this required for all countries or just particular ones?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Casims2000,
I found this on internet, but it pretains to a Embassy in Manila, maybe it can get you on the right row. I will also check at the Embassy where your love with interview. I hope it helps, hope you had a nice walk.

    Document Verification Fee
Applicants whose visa eligibility is dependent upon their marital status (i.e. K-1, K-3, CR-1, IR-1, F-1 and F2-B categories) will normally need to have their documents verified through the National Statistics Office (NSO) before the U.S. Embassy in Manila can issue the visa. Those with a delayed birth or death certificate or only local civil registrar copies of such documents may need to have their documents verified.
In order to avoid unnecessary delay in the visa issuance process, the U.S. Embassy in Manila strongly encourages applicants in the categories mentioned above to pay the document verification fee prior to their immigrant visa interview. Payment can be made through any Metrobank location. The cost of the document verification is PhP 650 per applicant. For specific instructions on how to pay the document verification fee, please click here. If you are unable to pay for the document verification before your immigrant visa interview, you may be asked to pay the fee on the day of your interview. Please note that if you pay on the day of your interview, there will be a delay of one to two weeks in the

      Carol,
Did some research on internet ,out of the goodness of my Texas heart, found out Document verification is the U.S Embassy way of verifiying that the NSO documents you sent them are authentic.
BUT....... Im only seeing these key words in a internet search pertaining to the Phillipines. Not sure it it pertains to you for Brazil or me for France.
      I will do more research.

Now you got me on a mission, and got my mind off of waiting for my approvals
as you did earlier with your lovely email to me of your walk. Thanks, Im okay.
Will do more research and see what we can find, I also need to know if this pertains to me in France for my hubbys interview.

        Carol.
Looks like the verifiction of documents with the NSO National Statistics Office seems to only pertain to Phillipines.
I check several embassy reviews for France and Brazil, and then checked Phillipines section of reviews at embassy, seems like as I said pertains to only to U.S Embassy Philipines,

Hope this helps. I also check Rio embassy nothing on document verification.
Email embassy in Brazil or fax them and ask. I also posted question on another forum will let you know how they responded.

As far as I know, document verification is only done in the Philippines U.S. Consulate. It is another way of making sure that applicants are not committing any identity fraud or whatever.

Carol this came from other forum from one of their members. Just like I thought, only seems for Phillipines interview at Embassy.,
Now, let work on Birth Certificate question of yours.

          Talk later,
          Beth

Thanks a lot Beth for the response. You should become an immigration advisor for this site. I appreciate the time you put forth answering my question. Now that's one less thing to worry about. Let me know if you find out anything more and I'll do the same.

Hang in there...our approvals are coming.

Do not think so, I deal with U.S. Customs 50 hours a week, dont need a part time immigration advisor job, ha ha.

I put in a call to a Immigration officer "friend" to see what he know about the birth certificate issue.

Glad the Doc. veri. issue is at rest now,
Now come on lets see approvals on the forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
