How have you been?
Well, the first part makes sense since in Rio the con-offs are Engl-Port. fluent so they wouldn't have to be fluent in a third language since they are in Brazil and they work at the American Embassy.
As for the translator, what is their definition of sworn public translator?
What do you have in mind? How does that apply to you and your fiance?
I am closing on the house next friday and hope to get approved for a nice apartment.

Well, I suppose my question is whether or not the documents should be translated at all? Bruno and I write to each other in Portuguese and I have always thought that we needed to have the emails translated, but now I'm questioning if there is the need? I had decided not to use the emails, but if they will accept them in portuguese, then I will make sure he has them. I will email the consulate just to make sure this information posted on their website is not outdated.

As far as any news, everything is the same. Today is day 74 from the date of my receipt. I have calculated the timelines on the other website for K1 visas sent to the CSC and the approvals are averaging 120-130 days. I will begin focusing on this timeline instead of hoping for an early approval. If I happen to receive an approval before this time, then I will count my blessings. I should know something by the end of May.

Today I spent time downloading all the required documents for the interview. I filled out most of the information that I could and have placed everything in order in a folder. I have also printed off all of our phone records for the past year. I now only need to have many more photos developed to put into an album as well as getting his documents translated.

As far as you, how are things going? Congratulations once again on the closing and good luck with the apartment. Has your fianceé received her packet from the Embassy yet? Are you close to having all of your paperwork in order? Did you run into any snags? Oh, that reminds me. I read also on the Embassy website that the police documents have to be obtained from the Polícia Federal as well as the Secretaria de Segurança Pública. I have already sent him to request his police report from the federal police. That was the easy one because all he had to do was go to the mainland. However, it seems that the other report will have to be requested for in Rio, which is the closest office to him. Has your fianceé already obtained this report and if she has, did she have to request it in person or is it possible to submit the request in writing so as not to travel all the way to Rio?

I will start my Fiance process in another 50 or sixty days, as soon as I get swear in. In the mean time I am getting as much as information as I can so I don't waste time once I start my process. One of the things I read and think in this site is, that for instance you can fax a copy of your NOA2 as soon as you get it, and some consulates will accept the fax, and at least they will get ready to send the package to your fiance as soon as they receive the notice from the NVC. Also I personally called the Rio de Janeiro consulate and I talked to somebody in the immigrant visa section, they said that they accept the birth certificates in Portuguese so I guess you don't need any translation. Also I ask for the police background checks, I think your finace can get them as soon as you get the NOA2 approval because they are valid for 90 days. Well, I know little things can be done to expedite a little bit the process on your side, but like I said I am learning from your experiences, because you guys are ahead of the game.
