  • UK citizen to marry US citizen

I am a US citizen; 19 years old.. my boyfriend is a UK
citizen; also 19. We met on the internet when we were
younger, and have been flying back and forth to stay
with each other for a while now. All-in-all we've spent
almost a year together in person when you add up the
dates, but we've known each other for about 5 years.

We're not planning on getting married right now; but I'd
like to know the full process for our particular case. We
would more than likely get married in the US. He's applying
for a US college to enroll in this fall, and we're currently
waiting on that to come back.. so for the next few years
he would be hopefully staying in the US on a student visa.

    Thanks for any input.

Best way is, when he is in the US, marry and file for an adjustment of status, and thank the Lord that you didn't have to deal with the US consulates.

He CAN NOT enter the USA with the pre-conceived intention of getting married and adjust his status unless he does so with a K1 visa.

Reading this thread could help clarify somethings regarding him being a student.

But in no case should he use a visa waiver to come to US and get married or enter on F1/B1/B2 and get married within 90 days of entry. This will cause problems during AOS.

Agreed. Read up on the 30-60-90 "rule".
