  • SSN & Parole document

    Hello,

I'm a Canadian who married an American, upon entering the US. I have filed the forms listed below.

    form I-130. [fee $355.00]
along with G-325A ( one set for each person has to be submitted )
form I-485, Adjustment of Status. [Fee $1010.00]
    along with the listed forms:
form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization
    form I-864, Affidavit of Support
    form I-693. Medical
    Form I-131

I have already received my parole document and employment authorization card. I have the following questions.
    a) how do I apply for a SSN ? What form do I need ?
    b) Can I visit Canada and come back to the US without any implications on the application ? I would also like to mention that I have been in the US for over 6 months.

    Help would be appreciated.

    a. Take your passport and EAD to the local SSA office and fill out the application there. They will send a SSN home in 2-3 weeks.
    b. As long as you travel with your parole document, you should be fine.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
