  • I-797C "fee waived"?

    Hi,

I have a question about the I-797C, Notice of Action for the I-129F, that my wife has just received which said that our fee was waived...? What does that mean? Apparently our check has not been cashed and that's worrying us quite a bit. Also, she just got a call from her mother (whose address we're using) that the check came back in the mail??! Even though we're sure we made no mistakes in the filing fee ($455). This is all very stressful and I was wondering if anyone had the same thing happen to them. As soon as i know more, I haven't read the letter yet that came with the check, I'll post it asap.

    Thanks in advance,
Pepijn (Dutch married to US citizen in NC)

    Fee Waived for I-129F

The reason the check was returned was b/c you have already paid for the processing when you filed I-130 (assuming you followed the correct process to file I-129F for spouse).

thanks for the reply! Yes we did pay the I-130 fee as instructed. So this is "normal procedure" then? I read the letter (blue paper) and it wasn't alarming either, it just said that the fee wasn't needed at this time. Which ofcourse made me worry that it wasn't needed because the procedure was being stopped

So now we should look out for a set of forms they're going to send us?
