  • Shall We Cancel The Wedding? Please help!

No K1 Visa yet! Should we cancel the wedding?? We have a July 5, 2008 wedding. People invited, etc. My fiancé interview was May 27, 2008 at Embassy of the United States in London and since then our K1 is stuck in “Additional administrative processing” and we are unable to get a status on it except “pending”. They did not require any additional documents and we are told they have all what they need and waiting on security checks. Any advise?? Here is our time line:

K1 Timeline - US Petitioner, UK Beneficiary

Nov 27, 2007: I-129F application Submission to USINS Laguna Niguel CA

March 27, 2008: Notice of Approval (120 Days from I-129F Submission)

April 2, 2008: Notice from Embassy-Start of process
April 8, 2008: Documents submitted to Embassy

May 27, 2008: Interview at Embassy of the United States London (182 Days from I-129F Submission, 60 days from I-129F Notice of Approval)

    Still waiting for Visa.

    Should we cancel the wedding?

I do not understand. Why would you want to cancel your wedding? Are you all in the same place or are you all apart? Love is patient. Eventually, USCIS will have an answer for you and you will then have a certified marriage license.

Because the person to be married is outside the US and cannot enter without a K1 visa nor use the VWP to enter and marry.

        Amir,

Thanks for your input… yes, she was told it will take four weeks, and we just wondered why we kept reading about numerous people that got their visas in a couple of days after the interview! I am sure our Middle Eastern names are not helping at all. If it wasn’t for the wedding that we have been planning for months and the expenses involved it wouldn’t have been as bad.. We are now faced with having to dismantle a wedding what we have been organizing for months, disinviting invitees, canceling paid-for vendors, etc.

Ola, txh1b is correct .. we are getting married in the US to satisfy K1 (fiancé visa). Coming on a Visa Waiver is risky if denied and K1-complicating if approved.

          Should we cancel wedding?

Thanks, Amir. I just did not understand why you would want to cancel your wedding. I am new to this site and I do not understand a lot of the terminology that you all use. Just by reading a lot of the responses I have been enlighten to some helpful ideas. And through reading other , some "Marriages" sound like a scam. Not saying that yours is one. Through this website I "LOGIN" to uscis and I am pleased to announce that My case was updated 6/25/08 and 6/26/08. I am anxiously waiting a response. It is exciting to know that someone is looking at your application.

that's a bummer i hope the visa will be issued soon... that's one thing i don't understand...on what i read about the documents or proofs you need to show during the interview it includes the proofs of your wedding plans like reservation for the reception, etc...it doesn't make sense...how can u plan your wedding wherein there's no assurance if you will get a visa? And if ever they will give you one, when will you get it? coz' from what i read there's no definite timeframe...some are lucky to have it in 6 months and some are not...it's been 15 months and they're still waiting. Anyways, goodluck to us who are waiting for our visas to be approved...just keep on praying
