  • Affidavit of support for K-1 Visa

    Hi,

My application for K-1 visa got approved in February. We sent the Affidavit of Support under my dad's name because I am still a college student and don't have a career. After my fiance sent the documents to the embassy, they sent it back to him stating that Affidavit of Support needs to be under my name. Is there any way to get around this or is there some kind of misunderstanding? Thanks for your time.

Affidavit of support has to be in your name. If you don't have enough or no income, your dad can co-sponsor. But you have to be main sponsor.

Just expanding on the same question.... if one has little to no documented income, how can one be the main sponsor, even with a co-sponsor? For example... myself. I have been travelling abroad several times a year to visit my fiance, and therefore am broke, lol. How can I even have an affidavit? How would this work? What would my affidavit say, with no bank account (I suppose I´d have to open one)

Sorry to bump this up, but how would someone co-sponsor? I have not seen on the documentation, where someone can co-sponsor? thank you.

Person applying for fiance has to do a I-134 and supporting documents even if it says you have zero money. It's just a rule. You also submit a co-sponsor with yours and then you can get approved.

Read instructions with I-134 and also I-864 for info about co-sponsors You will send the I-864 when you adjust status, but the general info they give in their instructions will answer many I-134 questions about sponsors, what is the family size, etc.
