  • Haven't received paperwork showing I-129F was received.

I mailed my I-129F on Saturday, May 25th via FEDEX. I checked the website for FEDEX, and my packaged was delivered on Tuesday, May 27th. I never received anything in the mail from USCIS, so I called the 800# on June 25th, and at that time I was given my receipt number and I was told the package was received on June 2. I have checked on the website, and it shows it was updated on June 9th.

My fiancé is in St. Martin, awaiting the visa approval. He was in the states and we thought he his asylum would be approved, since he had his driver license, and a social security number and filed taxes. But he was told he needed to depart the US and return legally. So he did and now we are waiting.

Has anyone ever experienced not receiving your notice in the mail?
Has anyone ever been approved less than 4 months?

Yes, I have heard of people never getting the receipt from the USCIS. The important thing is you have the number of your case file. You didn't say which service center has your petition. Vermont is faster than California right now. I know of a few people getting approved by Vermont in 18 days, 22 days, etc. BUT that was people who filed in mid February. The time has increased each month. My mid-March application at Vermont took 50 days. Right now approvals from California coming through this week were sent in February. In Vermont they are working on early April applications with some late March people trickling in too. Right now today, its averaging about 95-100 days at VSC and 145 days at CSC. But those numbers a climbing like I said before. It can always turn around and start to decline again, but I wouldn't count on it. Those approvals are for petitions that had nothing out of the ordinary. If your fiance was in the country illegally or overstayed a visa, then your petition isn't what I call ordinary and the process stands a chance of further delay.

Where do you get these numbers from?

      I mean the processing statistics?

        Statistics

I get the numbers from another immigration website that has thousand of people who post their timelines and graphs are made of the data to approximate time frames of how it's going. As people are approved they post the date. It is a small percentage of all the people in the US who apply, but I can see that since Monday of this week 11 people got approvals in Vermont and 14 in California.
        These are the Vermont:

        Date mailed---Date of receipt notice
        03/25/08----04/09/08
        03/29/08----04/01/08
        04/02/08----04/10/08
        04/07/08----04/18/08
        02/27/08----04/07/08
        03/24/08----04/08/08
        03/25/08----04/10/08
        03/25/08----03/31/08
        03/26/08----03/31/08
        04/05/08----04/10/08
        04/07/08----04/16/08

And they got their approval emails July 14-16
So that's how I know Vermont is working on April now.

California Service Center all approved Monday and Tuesday, none today yet.
        Date mailed---Date of receipt notice
        02/04/08----02/14/08
        02/22/08----03/11/08
        02/15/08----02/25/08
        02/17/08----02/22/08
        02/19/08----02/26/08
        02/21/08----02/25/08
        02/22/08----02/25/08
        02/22/08----02/25/08
        02/22/08----02/26/08
        02/25/08----03/04/08
        02/27/08----02/29/08
        03/03/08----03/04/08
        03/04/08----03/11/08
        03/13/08----03/20/08

Oh I see some March applications in there. Had I filed in California, I would maybe just now be getting approved, but I was approved May 2 by VSC. Many of us in March already have visas. My fiance has an interview in 10 days because we asked for a delay because of travel plans in early July. So you can see why I say California is slower.

Thank you Nicole for your information. It is very helpful. I filed with the Vermont Service Center, and although my case is a little unordinary, I'm praying the approval comes back just as fast as you have posted. I mean we have done everything by the book. Yes he was here illegally, but there was a trial and he testified against some people that told him how they came over was legal, and the judge told us he wasn't going to bar him and he would allow him to return, we just needed to follow the proper process.

While he was here, he had:
          His employment card
          Drivers License
          Social Security Number
          Filed and Paid taxes.

          Timeline:
          Mailed May 24, 2008
Fedex showed it delivered May 27, 2008
          Received June 2, 2008
          Touched June 9, 2008
