How important are the photos?

If we do a simple civil marraige before applying for the K3, how important is it to have "wedding photos?" In the package our immigration attorney sent us, the checklist said to include "wedding and family photos." We have nearly everything else on the checklist... things like lease in both names, joint bank account, utility bill in both names, etc.... but we are going to have a small civil ceremony, with only a few close friends. Family will not (and cannot) be there, seeing as most of them live abroad. We can take photos, no problem, but we're not having some big, traditional wedding... Is that a problem?

We have tons of photos of us, as a couple... but there won't be any traditional wedding photos... just some photos of the certificate signing, etc.

... may not be traditional "religious" ones, they can be formal ones taken with the family and friends during the civil ceremony.

Some pictures help establish the facts easily. As they say a picture tells a thousand words.

How important are the photos?

After I read your post. I had been waiting for a reply on I-130 and I-129f. 7/7/08 I had to send in passport photos. I thought that would have completed our case. CIS acknowledged that they had received the passport photos and the status said that they have "resumed processing". This lasted for two-three weeks. But I had not included wedding photos in our initial application. I sent in wedding photos 7/26/08 and I got an e-mail that states approval notice has been sent FOUR days later. SO, pictures are VERY, VERY important. The letter said they had a minimun of 14 days to respond and if more than 60 days, I should call customer service. But things moved once they got the pictures. Now, I am waiting for the letter in the mail with further instructions. I have not even received the return receipt yet. Every time I sent them something I make it return receipt because they have a habit of "losing" things. Thanks for asking the question. Our pictures are just of us two. None of our family members were there. The person presiding over our vows took the pictures (using my camera) as she performed the ceremony. Good Luck. Send the pictures in as soon as possible.

Photos

If you are talking about uscis processing, I did not send in any of my photos and i was still approved. Letters from family is what i sent for my initial processing of my I-130 along with the passport photos. They approved my case. My husband lives in Greece as a refugee and is originally from Africa. We married in Greece. The photos will come into play when you are at the interview stage of your process. Good luck.
