My guess is California approval around Christmas, then average of 2 months more to finish up in London. That's if you have everything done well and all the paperwork for the London part done ahead of time, so when they send the letter requesting it, you don't spend a month gathering and completing the next set of documents.

All I129F Fiance petitions are processed in one of two places.-- California Service Center or Vermont Service Center. They get hundreds every day and just put them in boxes on a shelf in a store room by date received, not by state. Then as they finish, they bring more boxes out. Your "box" could be picked up by a slow adjudicator or a fast one. Your box could sit on a desk because the guy got sick and missed 4 days of work. Being from Idaho has no bearing on speed of approval. The time estimates I gave you are based on projections I have seen posted that are calculated on recent timelines. I am very familiar with the London process, having received a K1 visa there this month.

        5/6/2008 arrive NVC
        5/8/2008 depart NVC
        5/12/2008 arrive London embassy
5/22/2008 Packet 3 instructions arrived in mail
        5/24/2008 Packet 3 mailed back
5/29/2008 Packet 3 delivered to embassy
        6/3/2008 Medical
6/14/2008 Interview Appointment letter arrived in mail
        7/29/2008 Interview
        7/31/2008 Visa issued/printed
8/5/2008 Passport with visa inside delivered by courier to house

That's about 2 months after approval in California to get the things processed in London and is average for about 15 other people I know. Some people don't have their documents ready ahead of time so take an extra month preparing them. The 5/22/08 letter informed what to prepare, but we already studied up and had them done to mail back the second day. Add time in there if you don't read up ahead of time. If you don't get the medical done early and wait until the day before the interview, add about 4 days for your results to get delivered to the embassy. They can't issue the visa until your results get there from the Knightsbridge doctors.

Hi, if was your petition approved, than the other office that they sent it to takes 2-4 weeks. Than You ( your spouse) will get another letter, where they will inform that petition is sent to London embassy.I got the envelop from embassy in a month after this first letter you got.
I don't know if it works same in London as in Prague, but you have to get done the medical exams first and than set up the interview.
Here - it is pretty full before Christmas, so it was better to set the date of interview first and than you ussualy have time to get all the documents ready. I have to wait another 3 weeks - embassy has to much interviews now.
            I hope it's helpful.
I think You can start to be going to your practisioner for your medical revue.
            (sorry for my english )

PS : But as I see from Nicole - you guys in London have it pretty fast

You can call the NVC by the end of this week. Do not enter your case number in the automated thing if you are K1 or K3. Those are not put in the automated system and it will always say "case not found." Speak to an operator. You do not make an appointment with a doctor until London sends a letter to the fiance in the UK. They will send instructions and what to do. See my timeline below to get an idea of how the timing goes for London. That's all I know.

They don't reply immediately. Your infomation has to get logged into their system which could take a week or two. Then they have to schedule your interview and send out your letter. I have friends who sent their things to London in December and they are also still waiting. It won't be much longer.

I want to warn you that if you are not a native born British citizen, then you can expect an additional waiting period after your interview before they approve your visa. It happens just about every time. At the interview, even if all your documents are in perfect order, they will tell you that there is additional processing required (sometimes refered to as AP) and they will contact you when it is time to have a courier pick up your passport from you and deliver it to the Embassy. That means your AP is cleared and they are ready to put your visa in your passport and send it back by courier. The most recent person I correspond with is a Pakistani student who interviewed in December and his took 4 weeks. Others have taken 8 weeks.
