Im filling out my I-134 and I was wondering if I could use my 1040 tax returns (turbotax, got refund) or do I have to use transcripts from the IRS, and does it have to be for the last 3 years. Thank you.

Many consulates like to see the most recent tax return with the I-134. Read the instructions from your consulate. London says provide 2 of the following and has a list. One item is a tax return. I have read many accounts of recent interviews where the tax return was examined at the interview. I used a turbo tax copy, but transcripts are free from the IRS and can be phoned or faxed in and arrive in less than a week. If you use a turbo tax copy, you must include all pages including any schedules that may be part of your return. You must also include photocopies of W-2 forms (or 1099 forms if they were sent in with your return.) You do not have to have the tax form notarized. You only have notarized the actual I-134. If you use a transcript from the IRS, you do not send W2s with it because that information is verified by the IRS in the transcript.
P.S. The refund has no bearing on your tax return as far as this process is concerned.
