Last name issues

So I can't figure out what to do with all of this, lol.

My husband, for whom I am petitioning, is from Venezuela and has two last names. his fathers, which is like his main last name, and his mother's. All of his documents have both last names, but none of the immgiration forms have a space for 2 last names, just one. Should I put both in the space for last name?

Praetorian, maybe you can help me out with this one... or anyone else from Latin America?? lol

Just put the first last name (his father's)

Otherwise, you will run into a whole lot of trouble in the USA with legal documents (carrying long names like Juan Francisco Perez-Rodriguez).

Ok, that's what I figured. I was just concerned because on all of his legal documents here, it says both last names... that won't cause a problem if we just use his Dad's??

Nope, that is what I did. Dropped my mother's last name (which she was not happy about )

Last names are odd here. I don't want to take his last name here because I don't want to end up doing the "de ______" thing that people do in Venezuela when they get married, lol.

Hahaha... Yeah, I wouldn't want a "De ___" in my last name either...

When you get to the USA you can change your name to just his lastname without the "De".

So, what is up with the US embassy in Venezuela? I thought Chavez kicked the ambassador out?

Hehehe, yeah he did. But supposedly the embassy is functioning normally. Hopefully! We're filing our I-130 next week I think, and then of course the K3 petition, so I hope it's working well. I'm ready for the rollercoaster, lol.

Aside from that, all is well in Venezuela... at least here in Valencia. Sometimes the US media exaggerates things a bit. My Mom calls at least once a week "are they evacuating Americans yet? It looks like it's getting bad down there! come home!" lol.

I miss Valencia...

I was there last July 4th weekend and loved it... I miss so many things about it, but at the same time... I don't... specially dealing with the new currency, that was a blast

Really? So you're from Valencia? I've been here for nearly 2 years now. I work in Mañongo, but live in Naguanagua. I love it, but you know, I miss the US sometimes. Things are a lot simpler there. When I was in the process of trying to get my visa here (still am, lol,) they gave us one set of requisites, and when we went back to make sure we had the right stuff, they told the peson in front of us "oh sorry, these are the new requisites... deal with it" lol.

Happens a lot... a place says it opens at 9 and it opens at 11, etc. lol. Plus, anytime you want to get anything official done, you have to go to Caracas, or somewhere else. lol

I know it doesn't sound like it, but I really do love it here....lol... it's just that today I happen to be a bit fed up with the beaurocracy. lol.

I lived in Prebo and worked all over the country. But yeah, things are way different... like public transportation!! o.O and driving!!! O.o...

I used to live near Prebo...in El Parral. I'm working in CC Via Veneto, near La Mansion del Pan in Mañongo. I'm one of the managers at Wall Street Institute, a language school there.

I like it. It's a beautiful city... yes the public transportation is...errr...interesting, lol. Busses with holes in the floor...always fun!

it was 6 months before I would drive here. The first time was in las 4 avenidas, I just drove in a circle from Casupo to the other end, lol. I was so scared, lol. Now I do it all the time... it's still scary, but fun.

Well, I hope everything works for you guys... I can get you in touch with some of my friends down there if you ever need support (they are ALL bilingual) so of them even teach at several english institutes...

But yeah, driving in Valencia is quite an ordeal... have you noticed how nobody stop at stop signs?
