My husband and i got married on Sept 9th 2008 here in China. I've been staying in China ever since and will be departing for the US on Oct 25th. While staying here i was supposed to see the life and choose for us whether we would live in China or the US. Well, i recently made the ultimate decision of US! Nothing against China, but the life is far too different and my professional life back home would suffer too much (it already is and i've only been gone almost 2 months!)
I told my family we will apply for a K3. They're happy as they can be. Then they brought up an interesting want... They want him in America for Thankgiving - New Years or Valentine's Day. My family is all very very close knit so they wish to see thier new son/grandson/nephew/cousin. They also wish to throw us a small wedding ceremony since they could not be in China when we got our lisence. I told them the visa process takes about 6 months, they advised me to try and find an option for holiday visit, thus i found the B2.
I understand that getting a B2 might be difficult and it helps to plead your case well. I'm wondering since my husband will ONLY be visit for holidays (obvious in his time frame) and would be returning way before his K3 interview, do we stand a chance?? Also would it help if my family went ahead and bought his airline ticket so they could see that it's roundtrip and that he will be returning??
Also will it hurt us that we didn't have a ceremony here in China? My husband's family is very dead set on our wedding being huge (My husband is the eldest child) so they need a lot of time to prepare. They OKed us to get our lisence as long as we promised to come back as soon as we could for a Chinese ceremony.
