  • Quick question

I am going to be applying for a K-1 for my fiance from New Zealand but I have a concern.
Will my not being employed create a problem or get him denied? I need to know if I should wait until I find work or if things will be fine either way. Nothing else should cause any trouble. We have waited a very long time already and don't want to mess anything up.

    Thanks.

    Edit:
After reading through a lot more in the forums here I'm a bit confused.

This situation is a bit more difficult then I thought maybe. I was previously married, now divorced. During my previous marriage there was a lot of domestic violence and I was not allowed to work. Now being divorced, with 4 children, I have been having a lot of trouble finding work because of the past lack of employment. My fiance supports us right now even with him being in NZ, he sends money transfers and we do fine but will be much better off when he is here and working.

I read that there is an income guideline and knowing this now there's no way I can reach this. The other concern is that because of my past marriage and the issues there, I have no family to turn to or friends that could sponsor.

What are my options then? This is the only thing that is looking to be an issue now and I'm really lost. He thought that it wouldn't matter if I was working and now I'm beginning to lose hope.
    Please help.

    Confusing i know

If your fiance can somehow show proof that his income will be the same as it is now he can use his income as a source. If you have assets then you can use that as a means of financial support. Go to the USCIS website and there you will find the instructions and forms for affadavit of support and the many different ways you can sponsor your loved one. Good luck, i know it is hard i was in the same situation. So I wish the the best of luck and don't give up if it is meant to be you two will find a way.
