          ok

I have re-read, if you refer about the canada bit and the applying from the country you married in, why is this stated on a us govt website?

it says "must apply for their visas at the US Embassy or Consulate in the foreign country where the marriage took place or, if there is no consular post in that country, at a post designated by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Visa Services".

Surely that means in Canada? Not my girls country USA or mine UK.!

They mean UK or USA. If you marry, then you stay in UK and she petitions for you to get a K3. If you are single, she petitions for you to get a K1, come to the US and marry in the US.
