  • K-1 Received and pending

Hi I`m in Ireland and my fiancee and I are waiting since September `08 to hear something. Can anybody give me a realistic timeline on when we should hear something. I have checked the processing times on the uscis website but I am unsure of what they mean by April `08. We filed our petition with Vermont and they received it on the 29th of September 2008. Any help with the timeline would be greatly appreciated

Another reply I made kinda fits your question, so read it from the beginning and see if it helps.

Thanks Nichole i did come across that reply and it does help. Could you just explain the processing date for me. Does it mean that they are processing petitions received before that date, after that date or just ones they received on that date. Thanks again

Again I would greatly appreciate it if anybody could explain the processing dates for the Vermont office. Are they processing applications that they received on this date only, or before or after this date. Thanks in advance

The processing dates. If it says April 15, that means those are the oldest cases they are working on. In reality most of the cases they are working on are August or September. But to keep from having to deal with alot of anxious people, they just say if your case outside of their processing times then they might talk to you and help figure out what held up your case when everybody else had theirs approved ages ago. Does that make sense?

Let's say you filed March 10 like I did. You could have a reason to get them to investigate your case. If you had filed April 30, you couldn't because it wouldn't be outside (before) their posted processing dates. It's a way to cover their @$$.

In reality we filed around March 10 and were approved early May and had the visa in July. If you went by the processing times posted, we would barely be able to request information about it now.

There are cases that get hung up and they wait a very very long time, but the processing dates are something to ignore unless you submitted your petition before that date. That's when you can cry HELP!

Thanks again Nichole, knowing now what the processing dates really mean and hearing about how fast all of your paperwork went through has really cheered us both up. It has really given us hope that we will hear something very soon. Thanks again for all your help and sharing your experience with us. I will post our progress on the forum and maybe then I can help other people through this. Hopefully it will all happen soon. Thanks again.
