    Hello,
I would like to know the process of NVC for I-130. I am a US Citizen and applying for my husband in India.

I recieved reciept# from NVC and was asked to pay $70.00 for processing of Affadivit of support (AOS fee), after that I am now asked to pay $400.00 (IV application processing fees(s). I am now sending I-864 (affadivit of support with W2's and employment letter). I just paid the $400.00 now.

Can you please let me know:
    1) Is this the correct process?
    2) After summitting I-864 to NVC, what is the next process and how long from here will it take for my husband to get an inteview date (Madras, India)??

Your advice, suggestion and info is greatly appreciated.

    Process

Yes this is the correct process and if you follow all the intstructions properly then it will not be long for your husband to receive an interview. NVC is pretty fast with their part of collecting the information. After you submit your I864 form they will then ask you to send the 400usd for the DS-230 once they recieve the payment and cash the check; this should take about 2 weeks at the most. They will contact you and ask that you fill the immigrant visa application out.

Your husband will have to sign the appliction, the signature has to ben an original, I don't know if you are with him but if you are in the states then i would get started on the application and have all the information they are asking for ready so that when it is time for you to send in the application you will already have all the necesary papers they are requesting. Download the appication from the nvc website.

Your husband will have to send you police records of everywhere he has lived for more than 6 months, an orginal birth certificate and orginal marriage certificate, pass port pics (2). The website will tell you all that you need for this part.

If you have everything ready and papers all together then you are looking at maybe 2 months for an interview letter. That is if NVC is to forward all your iniformation to the embassy and they schedule the interview from there.

I read here and some people have to call embassy and make an appointment for interview. But with me I am waiting for my interview papers from NVC.

Good luck and i hope this helps you.

      Thanks

      Hello Tamaramalik,
Thanks a lot for replying to my questions.

I live in US, and my husband is in India. The marriage took place in India.

      I do have few questions:

You mentioned my husband has to sign the application. Which application is that (is it DS-230)??
If yes, then is he supposed to fill, sign and send it to me here in US so that I can submit it to NVC??

Should my husband send all the documents (police records, birth certificate, marriage certificate, passport size picture) to me here in US ...and am I supposed to send all these with DS-230 to NVC?? I was assuming my husband has to take all of them with him to the US Embassay in Chennai, India when called for interview.

      Please clarify this.
