  • Affidavit of Support

My fiancee and I have had our I-129 approved are awaiting Packet 3...

Is the affidavit of support (I-134) supposed to be included in the return of Packet 3 or do I bring it with me at the time of the interview? Also, does my American fiancee need to be employed if we use my parents (who are U.S. permanent residents) as my co-sponsor?

    Any info would be helpful.

The-I-134 is presented at the interview. Fiance fills out one and her parents can fill out another if she doesn't qualify. Have some documentation of parents permanent residence status (photocopy of green card) so they qualify as joint sponsors. Your file already documents your fiance, so nothing additional about her status is needed for the I-134.

Another post says you are going through Montreal. I suggest you Google US Embassy Montreal then click Visas and look for info. For one thing, Montreal is already using the electronic form DS-160 which is being phased in to replace some of the other forms (DS 156, DS 156K) that are still in use at most embassies. You even submit your photograph electronically. Cool and new. You will probably find information about all the documents you will show at the interview besides the Affidavit of Support, like birth certificate, police report, etc. Now is a good time to get all those documents in hand and start learning about the DS forms you will submit.
