Does anyone know whether engaging an Attorney may help to speed an I-129F processing process at CA SC?

  • #2
    Hello

I consulted an attorney before I decided to go forward with our application. He told me that many people do this themsleves. USCIS can hold anybody up for anything, it does'nt matter who you are. This is a quote from him "the only difference of me doing it is I will have my name on it, and you will pay me money for it". So, I did everything myself, and I did have a RFE. I didn't have the right stamp on my divorce paper. I corrected it and we had our approval 3 days later. This site is full of good people and resources...Try it yourself!!! Good luck to you!

Has anyone received approval in less than posted time frame?

        our experience

We sent our I-129F petition to the USCIS in Calif. we did it ourself. We just made sure that everything was organized according to the help we received on this website. The timeline was suppose to be 6 months but we were approved in 3 months. This is just our personal experience. Patients is a virtue, good luck!

If you are talking about the processing times on the service center websites, YES almost everybody gets approvals faster. Those dates are the worst case scenarios. Those dates represent the oldest cases they have, but in fact most are done months before those dates. They say if you are past the posted dates, then you can seek additional information. They want to put you off as long as possible so the dates they post are much longer than it will most likely take.

Of course there are some that take a long time because they weren't filed properly with complete information. Sometimes a person's name comes up on a security check and has to be further verified. If you have a very, very common name there could be a suspected terrorist or criminal with your same name, so they have to check you out longer using more information to clear your name. Those kinds of cases are the ones with the posted dates, but most others sailed through months before.
