  • Timelines K1 process China

Hi, Well it's been since Oct 14th since we sent our I-129F in and within 3 weeks I received the 1st notice I think it is the I-797 notice of action and on Jan. 15 we received our 2nd notice of action, that our petition has been approved (hip hip hurray). Then about a week later (Jan 23) I received another notice from the NVC that our case hase been sent to the US Consulate in Guangzhou. So that's our journey so far.

I do have a question as far as moving into the unkown (by the way thanks everyone on this site for the advise and moral support). does anyone know the timelines from her on out? I've heard anywhere from 1 week to 4 months before my fiance gets her 1st packet from the US consulate?

Well, I'll keep everyone posted on our journey. I hope maybe our journey will help you in yours!

I don't know how long Guangzhou takes to send out their packet. Best to google US Embassy Guangzhou and see if they post the info on their website. Some places let you schedule your own appointment. Others make you wait for a letter.

You should be getting your Affidavit of Support ready to send to her along with a copy of your tax return, W2s, letter from employer, recent pay slips, etc.

She should be gathering the documents she needs to take to the interview...police certificate, certified birth certificate, etc. She could also be filling out the forms ahead of time DS 156, DS 156K, DS-230 part 1...Look up in the guides or on the Guangzhou embassy website for the complete list of forms and documents and don't wait until China sends a list to her. She could be getting her immunzation record ready to take to her medical exam or even get the shots she will need for her green card. It may be cheaper to get the shots in China rather than waiting to do them in the US. They will be noted on her medical exam in China so many do the shots before coming.
