Question on sponser?..can someone help!

can someone tell me at what point do i need the I-864 affidavit of support (sponser). I know i will need a sponsor. Do i have to send that form with the I-130 packet....or do I wait for them to contact me and tell me to send? At what point in the process do they request it? Also, if my brother is the sole sponser and fills the I-864 out....do i also need to fill one out and send? thanks for your help.

The Affidavit of Support is normally taken to the visa interview in the foreign country and not sent earlier. You the petitioner have to fill out one as the primary sponsor, whether you make enough money or not. Your brother will do another Affidavit of Support as a joint sponsor. He will have to prepare the form, several proofs of income, AND proof of his status in the US. That would be a photocopy of his US birth certificate or US passport bio page or his green card. They already have your proof of your status in the US in your file, so you don't have to do that part with the Affidavit, but a joint sponsor does.
