  • Police Certificate, Medical Certificate...

I'm from Mumbai. My fiance applied for the I 129F in Feb. I would be very much greatful to anyone who's familiar with the process and could me their advice. I have two questions:

    1. How early before it's time for my interview can I get the police certificate done, so that it is still valid when it's time for my interview?

    2. Where can I find the Mumbai consulates list of doctors from where I can get my medical done? Do I have to wait till they tell me, where and when to get it done?

Thank you very much for your time.

the police certificate is normally valid for 12 months.

    Google: US Embassy Chennai
There should be information somewhere on the website about fiance or spouse visas. Each consulate can set rules for how they want the medical done. At many you have to wait for your petition to be approved in the US and sent to India with a new case number to put on the medical form. You won't have that case number until the petition approval and then the National Visa Center assigns you a case number. The number you have now EACxxxxxx or WACxxxxx is a receipt number, not a case number for Chennai.

Thanks for that Nichole. I'm thinking of calling the consulate about any list that they might have, just incase. Would that be wise to call them?

I understand Amir. But I want to see to it that I have enough information regarding these matters. I can get into cat*****phising mode really easily when I feel unarmed with the right information, especially since this is my first time doing any of this (not like there aren't others). I also wanna get things done when I have the time and energy and I really don't want to wait till the 11th hour and then get a heart attack or something, although I'm pretty young for that. Lol I'm starting to sound like a hypochondriac, but I'm not. Either ways, I also have other commitments (as do other people) so trying to get things done as and when I'm getting the time.

Anyway I'm going tomorrow to apply for the PCC (Police Clearence Certificate) at the RPO (Regional Passport Office), at Prabhadevi (Annex building). I called the CID office today and they said that it takes about a month to 45 days for the PCC to be issued. Anyone reading this wants more information please feel free to ask me. I will update the process here when I get back from the RPO.

Anyone who wants to contribute to my present knowledge on this please go right ahead.

Thank you very much to those of you who have been kind enough to help me with the information I may need. Special thanks to Nichole.

        P.S.:

According to the US consulate, Mumbai, I fall into the following category: You reside in India, and your passport was issued more than six months prior to visa application.

Therefore, the site says that the Required Documents are:

        1. Police clearance certificate from the passport office that issued your passport.

        2. Police clearance certificate from the district police office serving your place of residence.

        Does this mean two PCC's?

          Hi,
I too am falling in the same category as yours. I got my passport 8 months back and as per the website I too will have to get 2 police certificates, one fron the regional passport office and the other from my area of residence. I just wanted to know:
how long does it take to get the police certificate?
          what documents would be required?
Can I request for the PCC right away before I receive the NVC letter (packet containing the details for medical and other instructions).

          Please help!
